  • My fault: victim of an internet scam!

    Lately I been stressing over a internet scam I fell for. It was my own fault and unusual for me because I have common sense. But, not this time. Even common sense didn't stop me. It was a site that offered free samples for a health product. It advertised about a $1 risk free trial and I only pay $4.95 shipping and handling. This was back in November.

    Little did I know. I receive my package in December and didn't open it until new years because I had nothing else to do.

    I log onto my online credit account and find 2 charges from this company(one that was 5.95 and 38.95)and 1 charge(29.95) from another.

    The first thing I did was dispute the transactions. I was so freaked out. I looked in the invoice sheet that came with the product and said upon receipt of this product, I will be automatically enrolled in a monthly subscription from their company. I have a 14-day risk free trial from the day I receive it and 30-days to return all unopened packages.

    I didn't know this. When I opened it, it was past the 30-day return period. I still haven't opened the bottle. It's probably poison anyway!

    Who does business like this? Scammers!!!

    I called the number listed on the credit card. It had an automated message including information about the other company that charged me. They are partner sites and once I am enrolled in their stuff, I am also enrolled in the second company automatically with monthly charges as well. The message also told me I had to wait for the next available representative for 43 minutes. So, I hang up.

    O great! what a mess. Now, I will be filing a complaint with the state attorney general.

    My credit card company accepted the dispute but, they give the merchants 60-90 days to respond to this. I freaked out.

    Today I called the company and the automated message was changed but they still told me how many minutes I need to wait for the next representative. They said 41 minutes and 47 seconds(freaking amazing) so, I waited. I waited about 39 minutes until I got through. The lady was courteous but, she  was firm about the charges and wouldn't remove them. She did confirm for me that I won't be charged anymore monthly charges and cancelled my subscription. I didn't like her tone either. It got a little nasty but, she tried to stay courteous. I even told her what happened but, her response was that the information was on 3 different places of the website. I should have read it before I ordered.

    So, I was supposed to read the fine print? If it's a real product, it should be advertised correctly. I personally think its scam. They bring you in and then your hit with all these charges!!

    I did a search online and many people complained about them and the partner site. O yea, the lady told me they r no longer partners with that other company and any charges should be discussed with them. LOL.

    I don't even know why I had to pay shipping. My product came in a bubble envelope with the price 1.86 on it(maybe the postage) and a tracking number from the us postal office.

    I called the second company. and a woman with an accent answers with static in the background from her side. She tells me I am automatically enrolled with this company through my sample order. And wanted to show me how to use their website after I asked to cancel.

    These people really agitate me.

    TIPS to avoid scams:

    ~If you purchase something online, read their terms and conditions or policies first. They may not advertise up front so you have to make sure you do your research.
    ~Search the company online if they have any compaints. The company I fell for has many, many complaints.

    What you can do if you are a victim of a credit card scam:
    ~    Dispute a transaction. This doesn't mean it's permanent. The company can recharge you later so, you should take action as soon as possible. Don't wait. The sooner, you do it the better. The bank has a policy where you can dispute a transaction within 60 days.
    ~Call your credit card company to let them know you suspect fraudulent activity and get your account cancelled. Also get your card number changed.
    ~Call credit report companies such as Equifax, Transunion, and Experian and get a free fraud alert for 90 days. This means the company will contact you if you open a new credit card or if someone else tries to open an account with your info.
    ~Contact the companies in case you can reason with them.
    ~Write a complain to your local state attorney general, the Federal Trade Commission or your local Consumer Protection Board.
    ~You can also file a police report. Definitely call the police if you feel your life is in danger.
    ~You can also take legal action.
    ~You can find more tips on how to avoid scams by searching online.

  • Part 2: Her competition with me.

    More on Catty Katrina's competition details....

    Our theory is that she keeps me around to make herself feel better bcuz I am beneath her. It's sick and sounds crazy, but, if you met her, you will understand it.  It angers me so much, I've been nothing but nice to her! I've never done anything to her. But, she always make it look like I've ruined her life or something. She directs intense anger and rage towards me.

    More signs....

    1) During college, she invited Michelle to her dorm and I never got invited. She never even mentioned anything like that with me.

    2) She would say such words to me like, "I would've never thought you liked this. It doesn't seem like your personality". How offensive, she never even got to know me past my looks!! I started showing her I liked fashion but I always did. My own mother always put me down, I never showed anyone a "better" side of me. Anyway, she would say, "I didn't know you were into this pattern. I didn't know you liked this color. I always imagined you in black. Wow, this change is overwhelming for me. I never expected this." This was back in 2004. Michelle was in pure shock to hear that. I was upset because in previous hangouts, I've gradually showed visual signs of change. Such as new colors and fitted outfits from my previous baggy stuff and dark, neutral colors like brown, beige & black. Yet, it's as if her mind reset itself to "Diana=gothic girl I knew in freshmen year of h.s." We were like 19-20 years old in 2004. I mentioned I started changing in 2003 and above. I am still working on myself. There are always improvements to be made. However, Kathy remained in her usual early 90's junior h.s. style. Yet, she judged me this way. Like, huh???????????????????????????????????????

    3) Fast forward to 2007!!! My memory of her in the past faded so let's talk about her of late! Michelle is engaged to a "tall, dark and handsome" fiancé. A type Kathy is into. Yup, Katrina is jealous of that as well.(more on Katrina and Michelle later) Before they were, engaged, he showed strong dislike for Katrina because of her looks. He's straight-up about it all. She drove deeper into a "I-don't-care-what-anyone-thinks–of-me" condition! She seriously needs professional psychiatric attention!! Let's call him "dove". Dove accidentally found pictures of Catty Katrina on Michelle's laptop and was grossed out by her. Couldn't believe Catty Katrina was her friend. A lot of Michelle's friends are shocked about Catty Katrina. Many of them dislike me as well. But a couple of her friends are accepting of me. At Michelle's b-day dinner, Dove stood us up at the dinner table with Catty Katrina there. He didn't want to meet her. It's understandable. He was being truthful. That's how he is. Blunt and upfront about things!! Kathy since then took it offensively. Since then, she has stayed nice to Michelle and gotten nastier towards me. Why is she always directing her life's anger at me??!!! She has come to a point of ignoring me and Michelle. But more details later. More things have happened. I guess this is karma coming back to her. Someone finally stepped up and showed her the truth. Catty Katrina always seems oblivious to it all and thinks she's above it all. She shows us hostility and great mistrust. Yet, she won't let go of us. More on that later: Catty Katrina and I "cut ties"~!!!!

    4) Katrina started dating right after the announcement of my "new bf". {I was seeing a guy in 2007 and it was the first time she heard I was seeing someone.} Can you believe this?! Katrina accepted a blind date with a guy, Let's name him "Jack" through Michelle's connections. He was a social, decent and good guy!(I think). Katrina usually don't go for that type herself. She has a specific thing for nerdy types which she used to deny that. Later, she changed her mind to maybe protect her rep? Katrina and I got into details about Jack and how they met. I was very shocked to hear she's dating let alone a blind date. She's told me in the past she hated blind dates bcuz they didn't go well for her bcuz of a long reason. She had no interest in anyone. She dwelled ..ncounters with guys instead.


    5) after this dating change, she starting updating herself in certain ways. It's amazing. She went from, "no, i dont like change. You and Michelle are trying to change me. My other friends too"  towards "Yea, I been doing my eyebrows, getting manicures and going to the gym."

    It's like the more I update, she updates. I may have to hide it from her. Another thing that gets to me about her. She always thinks I will spill the beans to her about my life. Maybe I should stop telling her things about me and she will just stop this. The interesting thing is, she goes to Michelle to ask her about me. To find out what's been going on with me.

  • Her negative competition with me.

    Katrina and competition: details of past drama.

    Well, I'm blogging a lot about her and too often but, I have so much anger and confusion inside. Why is one person directing so much hatred and hostility towards me? I'm not a person with good luck so maybe that explains it all~!! Girl drama is everywhere. I got (un)lucky with this girl! I've been told by a friend that I'm lucky she didnt come physically harm me bcuz of her hatred for me. Wow. Over stupid shit?

    Everything discussed in the previous posts lead Michelle and I to believe that Katrina is "catty" and she is being competitive with us. She is highly guarded with us and believes we are always trying to gang up on her. As years past, she avoided us more. As discussed in one post, she stopped calling us. I guess this is her own way of cutting ties with us. Yet she stays in touch with us, huh??

    She shown me more hostility over the years than I can count! I never saw her as a nasty personality well, I guess its finally coming out!! Yet, she calls me her best friend.

    Anyway about "Catty" Katrina and competition, I digress…

    They're many signs she shown us she's in competition with me. I didn't even know. She's an average girl no one gives a second look at on the streets. I'm not saying I'm better, I'm just describing her as she is. My theory is she has these intense insecurities and she takes it out on me by constantly putting me down because I'm beneath her or that she perceives me as beneath her. She does it in a very subtle way, which Michelle says, its smart. To me it's like cheating on gaining something you want but no one knows you did or saw you cheat because you were subtle. So, you get away with it. It's a neat trick to me. It's very offensive when it's repetitively done on you for no confirmed reason. And I wonder why this is happening. I'm trying to b open and real, and she plays this trick on me. What's funny is that she thinks she's a "smart alec" as Michelle calls it. People see right through her. Michelle's guy friend, whom we thought couldn't see this stuff, sees it when he's around us. However, he doesn't like me either cuz of my looks. Yet, he saw it. People can read through her. However, in her mind/fantasy/way-of-thinking, she thinks she's getting away with it. Bcuz no one tells it to her in honesty. Is honesty like a friendly gesture or something?? You have to like someone to tell them truths?? Even Michelle thinks it's messed up and offensive.


    SIGNS


    1)Everytime we hang out, She would always look at me up and down wit creepy judgemental eyeballs. She has these eyeballs that pop out like goldfish eyes but they don't really pop out of her face. It's weird and I can't describe it correctly. At the end of looking me up & down, she would give me an ugly disapproval look. She looks very bitter when she does that. I would ignore it. She tries to keep it subtle yet it's very obvious!!

    2) Whenever, the three of us go out, she would watch poeple to see what kind of reactions Michelle and I get. Especially with me bcuz she looks harder at me with ppl. She thinks ppl want to stab me cuz she wants to~! LOL. No one ever looks at her. It's as if she doesn't exist to people. It's funny but, there she goes, acting funny around us. It's very ignorant and offensive. What did we do to her??I will never get it.

    3) At present day, she sighs when I speak to her. She rolls her eyes at me. She gets nasty at me often. I'm not sure why. If I raise my voice at her a lil bcuz she's being a lil rude, she raises it back at me and tries to "win" over me. Very bitter and disgusting! If I'm in a bad mood and show her a sign of negativity, she becomes aggressive on me, and starts to get nasty at me. When she's in a bad mood, she gets nasty at me. Sometimes, around Michelle and I on her bad moods, she hides her face from Michelle and her body language is towards my way, she glares at me. No one is dumb, Michelle didn't see her face, but, she FELT something. That's very strong!! At Michelle she does the same thing but, her body language changes. She returns to her sweet mode towards Michelle as if nothing happened. I'm not sure what happened. I can talk to her, she would glare at me like, " I don't care. Why are you speaking to me?!" How gross!!! She wants to know about my (according to her) stupid life but, don't want to be around me. She shows me disinterest and superiority I can't understand~!! If she don't want to be friends with me, why can't she just let go of me? Yet, she never EVER cut it with me. She kept me around but, "abused" me. She uses me for her own sick agenda.

    4) In 2007, I told her that I joined Lucille Roberts and I sent her an offer for a 2-wk trial. I called her to let her know and to ask if she wanted to join with me but, she didn't answer my call so I left a voicemail. Something she does often. She called me to thank me and said how she didn't have the money to join a gym. Michelle calls her days/(wks) later to see what's up wit her and Katrina tells Michelle she has joined the SAME gym I did with her co-worker!! How f*cked up is that?!
